Jean-Yves Lanvin
Born in Paris, France, in 1965, Jean-Yves Lanvin is a French artist based in Milan who creates limited-edition sculptural furniture. His pieces, crafted from rare and exquisite minerals, are distinguished by jewel-like finishes and striking profiles.
At the intersection of art and design, his work is defined by bold, asymmetrical lines and a sculptural approach. Each creation reflects the richness of European craftsmanship combined with contemporary innovation, through the use of precious metals, noble stones, and rare minerals.
Heir to the Lanvin family, he grew up in a world shaped by elegance, creativity, and artistic sophistication. After working in finance at Lazard Frères in New York and Salomon Brothers in London, he turned fully to art and design, representing prestigious French design houses. This experience gave him a deep understanding of foundries, casting techniques, and the working of precious materials.
With a uniquely integrated workshop, Jean-Yves Lanvin masters each stage of the creative and production process, from the initial concept to the final realization.
Both sculptural and functional, his works balance elegance with strength and experimentation with tradition. They explore the tension between equilibrium and imbalance in both structure and form, embracing irregularity as a source of anticipation. Each piece seeks a refined dialogue between the raw and the polished, the controlled and the untamed.
